El pasado 19 de enero celebramos el cumpleaños de Edgar Allan Poe con los estudiantes de Bénédict Urdesa. Realizamos un concurso de "short stories of terror" y los chicos escribieron sus propios cuentos de terror en inglés.

The Horror Sound

An annoying sound was ringing far in the darkness and narrowed into Paul’s bedroom. It didn’t matter how far it was because it woke him up. 

He immediately stood up off his bed to find the sound that was getting annoying. Paul was walking around his messy room without any result. He was dressed in a red jumper. The sound was increasing gradually. Suddenly Paul went to the kitchen room near the fridge. He was assessing what was happening in his house. He looked around and it soon became a horror movie.

Everything in the kitchen started shaking and falling down. Obviously, Paul was frightened because he didn't know what was happening at this moment. The sound was so high that he couldn’t hear he just felt it and started feeling dizzy so he couldn’t see a piece of broken glass and he cut his feet.

Immediately the sink broke and it flooded everything. The water mixed with the blood around his feet. He had nervous breakdown and ran around the kitchen gasping and screaming all around. He ran to the main room and tried to open the door but he couldn’t so he started pulling the door.

Surprisingly a woman came and stopped him. He looked her like a crazy man. The woman saw inside the house but nothing was unusual. The woman hugged him and he cried in her arms. After a medical examination, doctors said that Paul had attempted to kill himself by cutting out his wrist.

The Little Lover 

On a cloudy afternoon, Daniela decided to drop by his boyfriend’s house. Along the way, the road seemed to be quieter than it used to be. Suddenly, a little girl appeared next to her. Daniela hadn’t seen that girl before so she didn’t know what to say. 

Do you want to come in? The little girl asked. Yes, Daniela answered. The girl had a key in her hand. She put the key in, and they both got in the house. Inside, the little girl started crying so Daniela went to the kitchen to get some water for her. When Daniela came back, the little girl said that she hadn’t wanted to die and disappeared in front of Daniela’s eyes. While she was disappearing Daniela heard her voice so far that said: ‘you have to break with Daniel, he will be mine forever, unless you obey I will come back to get you’. 

Eventually, her boyfriend arrived. After listening to Daniela’s story he said: She was my little cousin who was in love with me. She died 5 years ago. She always appears again and again when I get into a relationship.

Look Behind You

Jake Johnson was a normal guy who had many friends, and had good grades, but some people were jealous. On his 17th birthday, a group of classmates invited him to spend the night off the city. He answered yes and his mates told him they were picking him up at night. At 7 o’clock a car parked in front of his house. Jake opened the gate, and he looked down, there was a small box. He entered his house. Jake opened the gate, but when he looked out, no one was inside the car. 

Then he looked down, there was a small box, he took it, entered his house and opened it. The box contained two papers, one was a map and the other had something written. It said “look”, so he looked around the room immediately. He didn’t notice anything different and he went upstairs to check the other paper. It was a map of his neighborhood with a traced path to the woods. 

Jake decided to ignore it and keep waiting for his friends. One hour later, the same car parked in front of his house. This time a man dressed in a black coat carried a bigger box than the last one. He went downstairs and carried the box to his bedroom. When he opened it, he got really excited. There was a skateboard inside it and the other paper that said: “be”. Jake was a bit confused but he just kept waiting. The clock struck 9, but nobody came. Then the clock struck 10 and a black car parked in front of his house. Now two people carried two boxes. They let them in front of his gate and left.

Jake went downstairs, picked up the two, one had same instructions and the other had a paper. In the paper there was something written. It said “hind”. He joined all the papers and it had the phrase “look behind”. He looked behind frightened but nothing was different. Jake sat on his bed and read the instructions. They told him to follow the path in the map. It said he could use the skateboard the one that was given to him to get there, if he said anything to the authorities, he would die. 

Jake was frightened so he followed the instructions. As soon as he arrived to the forest, there were some arrows that he had to follow. The arrows took him to a place with very big box, and there was a note. He read it: “you”. He remembered the other words, and everything now made sense. “Look behind you” someone said, and he was pushed to the box, which was a coffin, with his name written on it.

Totally Terrifying 

It was about three in the morning one night, and Chris was lying in bed keeping his eyes closed to just relax. All of the sudden, he lost consciousness for a minute or two and he couldn’t move. When he was able to open his eyes, he glanced to his door. Out of nowhere, there was a loud BANG on his door to which he opened his eyes wide. 

He didn’t move and the next thing he heard was a crying, with a very faint whispering to the person who was crying. He tended to have an only lucid first-person dream, so he immediately shunned it off like it was nothing. Then he closed his eyes and opened them back but the crying continued. At the moment, he panicked a bit and stood up.  

He slowly opened the door to see nothing there. The light was off in the hallway when he always left it on. He walked down the hallway after turned the light on and suddenly, he heard a faint piano playing. He ran to his room, lay down again and closed his eyes until the next day.

The Eyeglasses

One day a man went to the theatre and saw the most beautiful woman he had ever seen. Since then he did everything to find her and approach toward her. And he did it. He proposed her marriage one day to another and she said yes with the condition that after the wedding he had to wear an old pair of eyeglasses that she possessed but he didn’t want to wear them because he was so vain he didn’t like them. After they got married she asked him to keep his promise. So the boy put the glasses on and horrified he looked at her and he realized she wasn’t the woman he had married. She was her old and ugly great-grandmother.

Revenge in the woods

One night, Ian a 36-year-old wealthy man who lived alone in a beautiful penthouse went to sleep at 11pm. He was sleeping when suddenly his alarm clock went off. He woke up agitated by the noisy sound of the alarm but just a few seconds later the sound stopped. He looked at his clock and it was 3 in the morning. He got up and went to the bathroom and saw blood in the sink and the words “YOU KILLED ME” written on the mirror. He got scared and ran into the bedroom and there was a woman all covered in blood standing by the door. He screamed and the woman approached him so fast that he couldn’t move so he closed his eyes and when he opened them, he wasn’t in his penthouse anymore, he was standing in a road surrounded by the woods. 

Ian didn’t understand what was happening so he thought everything was just a bad dream. He decided to run with the hope of waking up in his bed again and to find out that all was a terrible nightmare but out of nowhere a car appeared. He started to scream for help but then he noticed how familiar the car looked, it was his old car and he was driving it. At the same time he saw a woman running in the woods and being hit by the car. He ran to help her but then he stopped because he realized that he had been the person who had run her over. In that moment he clearly remembered that 2 years before he had been in that same road driving at night and had run over something. He didn’t stop because he got scared and he chose to believe that it had been a deer or some other animal. 

After that clear vision he woke up in his bed again but it was 7am so he calmed down and pretended that nothing had happened. Later on the same day he was driving home after work and the road he always took was closed so he had to take another route. While he was driving he saw the same woman covered in blood in the middle of the road. Ian got frightened, lost control of the car and crashed it into a tree causing him fatal wounds. He was unconscious for a while and then he died in the same place he had run over that woman 2 years before.

Candy

One dark and cold night, a little girl called Mary was trying to wake up her mother. Mary couldn’t stop saying that the eastern bunny had eaten her candy. The mother woke up just to say that she wouldn’t get up from bed. The mother tried to calm her down, she told her that she could sleep with her tonight but Mary didn’t stop. The mother was so tired, because she was a single mother who had to work all day, she went back to sleep. Mary gave up so she went to the stairs and looked down. There was a man wearing an eastern bunny costume full of blood. He had some bones in his hands and there was a little dead animal next to him. Mary was crying and she told him that her mother wouldn’t get up. The man answered with a scary smile, his teeth were all full of blood and he had a piece of raw meat in the mouth. He told her that she could come back to her bedroom, immediately she ran away. On the floor, over the little animal’s neck that the man was eating, there was a dog necklace with the words “Candy”. The man was eating Mary’s dog called “Candy” and she had seen it.

Secrets of Wysteria  

One day in Wysteria, a quiet place that has some creepy secrets. Robinson’s family had a little girl who wanted to go to a party, but she couldn’t go because no one could leave her at the party. Suddenly a strange man appeared in front of her and asked her if she wanted to go to the party. The little girl said yes. Could you leave me there? she asked. The dark and strange man looked around and took her. Nobody had seen what had happened and where the little girl was. Nobody knew that man and her parents were worried about her. They hoped she would be ok. Just a few days later, her parents received a letter. The mother opened it and while she was reading it, she started screaming, the father read it and was astonished. 

The letter said: 

Dear Ms and Mr Robinson, 

Your daughter was so delicious, I naked her and I tied her hands and legs. Immediately, I hit her until she started bleeding. I enjoyed each piece I ate of her little body. She was crying while I was cutting her and drinking her blood of her neck. I left her for two days eventually she hadn’t died yet. I tasted her ass and I didn’t like it so I put it in the garbage. I cut the rest of her body. I cooked it. It took too much time, but it was worth it. Thank you for the delicious snack. 

The police officer found a bag in a river and in that bag were the wastes of a little girl’s body. Police officers researched about this strange man. His name was Albert Fish who was a cannibal. He had killed two children before and had also written a letter to the children’s parents too.
